The 2013 Reykjavík Folk Festival kicked off at Kex Hostel yesterday evening with performances by Puzzle Muteson (U.K.), Ylja, Snorri Helgason and Þokkbót.
Tonight’s schedule begins at 8 pm with performances by Elín Ey, Árstíðir, Valgeir Guðjónsson and Þjóðlagasveit Höfuðborgarsvæðisins. Tomorrow, Pétur Ben, Benni Hemm Hemm, Magnús og Jóhann and Ólöf Arnalds will take to the stage.
The idea behind the festival, now in its 13th year, is to “celebrate the diversity and breadth of the Icelandic folk music scene by mixing together artists and bands of different age and style that all share a common dept to the wonderful world of folk music,” as stated on the festival’s official webpage.
