Icelandic musician Mugison has announced his candidacy for a seat in the Northwest Constituency in the upcoming general elections on April 27. Mugison, whose actual name is Örn Elías Guðmundsson, will run for the party Bright Future.
Mugison told Fréttablaðið that the older he gets the more political he gets. “But I am not left, right, up or down. Just like all Icelanders, I often speculate about things. Just the other day, I was mapping out how the energy industry is built up in Iceland. It took me the whole night to try to understand this thing. After three to four hours I was no closer but it would be nice to dive deeper into issues like this. Is it not possible for things to be simpler?”
Member of Reykjavík City Council and fellow musician Óttarr Proppé was the one who reportedly convinced Mugison to join the party.
