Iceland Customs Report Increase in Steroid Smuggling
Icelandic customs authorities at Keflavík International Airport report a considerable increase in the illegal importation of steroids, both in liquid and tablet form, to Iceland in the last six months.

Last week, customs seized around a liter of steroids—enough for 2,000 dosages—which was sent to Iceland by post, the package which was marked as containing nut oil, visir.is reports.
In November, a man was caught with 35,000 steroid tablets and 500 ampoules arriving at Keflavík International Airport. Packages containing steroids were also among those seized by customs in the lead-up to Christmas.

One of the last tasks of Steingrímur J. Sigfússon while in office as minister of industries and innovation was to issue a regulation on Monday extending the reserve for whales in Faxaflói bay, off Reykjavík in Southwest Iceland. The regulation took affect at midnight.

The government of Jóhanna Sigurðardóttir will formally step down after a state council meeting with President of Iceland Ólafur Ragnar Grímsson at his residence Bessastaðir at 11 am today. At 3 pm, the new government of Sigmundur Davíð Gunnlaugsson will attend a state council meeting and afterwards formally take power.
