Listen to This: No Radio in Dýrafjörður
The village of Þingeyri in the fjord Dýrafjörður in the West Fjords has been without radio for three days after a blizzard last weekend.

State broadcaster RÚV’s two radio stations have been silent since Saturday after the transmitter on Þverfjall mountain was damaged, bb.is reports.
A repair team is scheduled to repair the transmitter once the weather improves.
The television transmitter is still functioning.
As reported earlier, roads are widely impassable in the West Fjords as well as in parts of North and East Iceland after heavy snowfall.
Electricity is also being rationed in the northern part of the West Fjords after a blizzard damaged electricity poles yesterday.

Harboring the Homegrown
The road to Höfn, a 1,690-person harbor town by the fjord Hornafjörður, is lined with reindeer. Whole herds of the wild horned animals rest peacefully on withered pastures, grace next to sheep and horses and bounce along the road. Soon, Vatnajökull, Europe’s largest glacier and the region’s biggest attraction, comes into view. Looming over Höfn, its outlet glaciers flow down from the mountains on which the bright white icecap rests.
