Plans for New Hotel in Húsavík

Stracta Construction is planning to build a 100-room hotel and restaurant in Húsavík, Northeast Iceland, and has applied for an 8,000-meter plot of land in the town.

In a meeting on Wednesday, the local municipality Norðurþing’s regional planning and construction committee, which is reviewing the application, ruled that there was no suitable land in the current land-use plan for Húsavík, but that the hotel could possibly be built on pastures opposite the town’s Norðlenska slaughterhouse, providing alterations are made to the building plans, ruv.is reports.

Owner of Stracta Construction, entrepreneur Hreiðar Hermannsson, plans to build ten hotels with a total of 1,001 rooms in different parts of the country. The projects are expected to cost ISK 6 billion (USD, EUR).
