LoveStar by Andri Snær Magnason has been nominated for the annual Philip K. Dick Award, which is among the highest recognitions for literature in the science fiction genre authors can receive in the U.S.
LoveStar is nominated along with six other novels and the winner will be announced at a ceremony in Washington D.C. on March 29, as reported on forlagid.is.
Originally published by Mál og menning in Iceland in 2002, LoveStar appeared in an English-language version by Seven Stories Press in 2012.
In Iceland, the book was awarded both the DV Culture Prize and the Literature Prize of Bookstore Employees.
It features an international conglomerate based in the Iceland of the future, which markets love and death. Indriði and Sigríður are convinced that they have found love on their own but LoveStar disagrees, putting all efforts into tearing them apart.

The festival Reykjavík Music Mess kicks off at KEX Hostel in the center of the capital with an opening party on May 23 at 8 pm. An art exhibition themed around the participating bands will open at the occasion and Boogie Trouble will play a few songs. Entry is free.
