A boat is on its way from Ísafjörður to pick up people who have become weather-bound in Súðavík. More than ten people have been stuck since Friday after heavy snowfall in the West Fjords, ruv.is reports.
As reported earlier, bad weather, including heavy snowfall and avalanches have left roads impassable, flight cancellations and power and hot water disruptions in parts of the West Fjords. A decision on whether flights will resume today is expected shortly.

Trips to the top of Iceland’s highest peak, Hvannadalshnjúkur (aka Hvannadalshnúkur), have proven popular this year, according to Icelandic Mountain Guides. Hvannadalshnjúkur is a peak on Öræfajökull in South Iceland measuring 2,109 meters in height.
