Icelanders spent a total of ISK 700 million (USD 5.5 million, EUR 4.2 million) on music last year with only three percent through digital sales, far lower than in the other Nordic countries.

According to the latest statistics from the Nordic region published on norden.org, only half of all music sales in Sweden are digital, 40 percent in Denmark, 28 percent in Norway and 25 percent in Finland.
This is despite internet penetration being the highest in Iceland with nine out of ten people having access to a computer and internet and 90 percent of 16 to 74 year olds reporting that they use the internet regularly, ruv.is reports.
The statistics are part of a report entitled 'Around the Nordic Region in 50 Years' and are published in celebration of 50 years of Nordic statistics.
