Gisli B. Björnsson is considered one of the most dynamic graphic designers in the history of 20th century Icelandic design. After returning from his studies in Germany in 1961, Gísli founded an advertising agency, and a year later, established a department for advertising illustration at the Icelandic College of Art and Crafts, today the Department of Graphic Design at the Iceland Academy of Arts. Gísli also designed the print edition of Iceland Review for the first 20 years of the publication’s history.
Gísli has taught graphic design for five decades and has been an unabating force in promoting awareness of his profession, a field that is today one of the biggest and most prominent branches of design in Iceland.
On display until February 3, 2013.
