Re: Iceland Power Company Erects First Wind Turbines
The wind turbines in the illustration seem to be from a different company, probably in an offshore installation. The Enercon turbines discussed in the article look a little different as the direct drive generators (more expensive but more reliable and cheaper to maintain) result in a bulkier nacelle. The rotor blade roots are also a little different. The height of 55 meters quoted appears to be the rotor hub height.

One of the last tasks of Steingrímur J. Sigfússon while in office as minister of industries and innovation was to issue a regulation on Monday extending the reserve for whales in Faxaflói bay, off Reykjavík in Southwest Iceland. The regulation took affect at midnight.
