Re: Magma Energy

We are a group of volunteers living in Casole d’Elsa, a village in Tuscany (Italy), having a common interest in the protection of our beautiful, world famous landscape. The name of our organization is DIFENSORI DELLA TOSCANA and our website is: http://difensoridellatoscana.wordpress.com/

Recently, Magma Energy Alterra Power has been given permission by the Region of Tuscany to drill for geothermic energy in our area. As well as raising some health concerns because of impacts on the aquifer, this project could greatly disturb biodiversity and wreak aesthetic havoc on the landscape, even if the installations are one-storey and the pipes are underground as Magma promises. According to us, such long term costs are doubly tragic as the local energy plan clearly affirms there is no need for geothermic power in the foreseeable future.

Our main interest at the moment is to collect as many signatures for our petition as possible for our petition in defense of the Tuscan landscape

On the other hand, we are also seeking help, information and advice in order to understand in detail Magma’s project.
We know Magma has constructed several geothermic plants in Iceland and we thought it could be interesting to exchange information on this subject.

Thanks from Casole d’Elsa, Tuscany.
