Christmas Beer Flies off Shelves in Iceland
Sales of Christmas beer in Iceland have reportedly been going well with around 105,000 liters sold during the first three days, considerably more than at the same time last year. Christmas beer went on sale on Thursday.

This year there are 21 varieties of beer on sale, as stated on the website of Vínbúðin, the state-run liquor store which holds the exclusive right to retail sale of alcoholic beverages in Iceland. The most popular brands are the same as last year: Tuborg, Víking and Kaldi, as reported on visir.is.
In 2011, 460,000 liters of Christmas beer was sold up from 33,000 liters in 2010.

Oldest Icelander Conquers Everest
Icelandic mountaineer Ingólfur Geir Gissurarson made it up the summit of the world’s highest mountain, Everest at 8,848 meters, by the South East Ridge at 1 am Icelandic time last night. At 50, he is the fifth and oldest Icelander to make the climb.

The Identification Committee of the National Commissioner of the Icelandic Police is working on the identification of a body swept up on the beach at Kaldbaksvík in Strandir, the eastern West Fjords, on Saturday. The body was found by travelers in the area.
