Icelandic musician Jón Jónsson has signed with Epic Records, which is owned by Sony Music Entertainment, after impressing X-Factor judge and head of Epic Records L.A. Reid.

“I would never have guessed that I would ever get a deal with Sony. This is an opportunity that I have to jump at,” Jón told Fréttablaðið.
Reid is one of the big names in the music business and has as record executive and songwriter contributed to the success of musicians such as Rihanna, Justin Bieber, Usher, Avril Lavigne, Maria Carey, Kanye West and Pink.
The music mogul was reportedly impressed after listening to Jón perform ‘When You’re Around’ and ‘Kiss in the Morning’ at his office in Sony in New York.
Jón explained that he and pianist Kristján Sturla Bjarnason played several songs for Bryant Reid, L.A.’s brother, about a year ago after coming in contact with him through a friend in the States.
In August, Jón received an email from Bryant asking if Jón could come to New York to meet L.A.
The pair met with L.A. Reid and his team and Jón was offered a deal.
