The Center for Icelandic Art (CIA) granted the creators of 11 art projects funds worth ISK 3.2 million (USD 41,000, EUR 26,000) in total last week. The artists also received ISK 300,000 (USD 3,900, EUR 2,500) in traveling allowances from airline Iceland Express.  more

A bill on debt adjustment is likely to be put before Iceland’s Althingi parliament next winter. The bill is meant to assist individuals who carry heavy debt and have trouble paying their bills. This type of debt relief is already practiced in the other Nordic countries.  more

Deaths related to intravenous drugs in Iceland have increased vastly, according to physicians. Last year six individuals died because of that type of drug abuse, 38 percent of intravenous drug abusers admitted to the National Hospital’s intensive care unit.  more

Approximately 46 million liters of gasoline, which Finnish oil company Neste Oil had stored in oil tanks belonging to Icelandic oil distribution company Olíudreifing in Hvalfjördur fjord, west Iceland, since December, were sent to the US on Wednesday where it will be sold with high estimated profits.  more

Deep orange, ultramarine blue, luxurious red and shimmering silver form a wonderful palette, and one cannot help but feel uplifted by the artist’s visible love for color.  more
